Dora Marquez or Dora the explorer as you might know her, is probably the most beloved preschool cartoon character in the world. Always accompanied by her talking purple backpack and her playful monkey companion called Boots, Dora embarks on all sorts of educational adventures, overcoming obstacles, solving puzzles and riddles.
This time, our beloved character’s adventures drive her into the kitchen, where she has to help Papi (her father) in preparing several courses. “Dora's Cooking in La Cocina” is a fun opportunity for children to learn about the ingredients needed to prepare many popular meals, in an original and unique Dora Marquez style and maybe even learn some Spanish along the way. Browsing through Dora’s favorite recipes, kids will learn the “secrets” needed to prepare cornbread, rice with pigeon peas, chicken stew ore one of the other delicacies that can be found in Papi’s cookbook.
Try the Dora cooking games out with your child and turn him into a little chef. All that is needed to interact with the game is a mouse. Have your kid prepare the dishes from the menu by finding the kitchen supplies and browsing through cabinets and the fridge. After finding one of the required materials, clicking on the image will collect it. After everything that is required has been collected, it all goes into the oven, and “Excelente!”, the meal is ready.
A useful tip for parents is to try the Spanish version of the game. Saying out the words out loud with your child will help them learn new words in a foreign language while having fun.
Through her game (besides the obvious) Dora also teaches preschool children developmental skills. They will learn about diversity and different cultures, family roles and traditions. The game boosts a child’s early literacy skills through listening, comprehension, speech, reading, vocabulary, letters and their sounds, and spelling.
